Executive Decision (1996) Memorabilia: Screenplay, Photos
Check out the screenplay used by the movie's location manager, a signed photo by Kurt Russell, and the press kit distributed to film critics and theaters.
The memorabilia featured in this post inspired me to write this article on Scene Lift about Executive Decision. Watch out for those decoys!
This collection includes an original screenplay for Executive Decision that was issued by Warner Bros. to the movie's location manager and other cast and crew members. The location manager passed away in 2024 and his family sold the script at an estate sale. He worked on many other movies including Demolition Man, Twister, and The Green Mile. You can learn more about him on IMDB.
The screenplay also includes Kurt Russell's signature and a short message to the location manager on a still photo of Russell playing Grant, the brains of the operation in Executive Decision. The photo depicts part of the scene when Grant emerges from the elevator and attempts to kill the sleeper who possesses the bomb detonator.
Separate from the screenplay and signed photo is the press kit that Warner Bros. sent to film critics and theaters before the movie's release on March 15, 1996.
Whether you're a fan of Executive Decision, looking to buy a fan a gift, or working on a project related to the movie, you can find Executive Decision memorabilia like this on eBay.
Executive Decision Screenplay
The screenplay is the ninth production rewrite created by Jim and John Thomas, the brothers who also wrote the scripts for Predator, Mission to Mars, and Wild Wild West. The pages of the screenplay are in great condition and the front and back cover are in good condition, showing wear typical of production-used scripts.
Since this is not the final shooting script, some scenes in the script are different from scenes in the movie. However, because this is most likely a later draft, the majority of the movie stays true to this version of the script.
One of my favorite scenes in this script that’s not in the movie features Cappy (Joe Morton) helping Cahill (Oliver Platt) relax with a guided meditation so he can stop shaking enough to cut the blue wire in an attempt to defuse the bomb.
I wrote about the movie, this version of the screenplay, and my favorite scenes with Cappy on Scene Lift.
Executive Decision Press Kit
The press kit contains three 8x10 still photos, a production information pamphlet, and a credits sheet with primary cast and crew members. It's a nostalgic collectible or gift for any fan of the movie.
Still Photos
The 8x10 still photos in the press kit feature black and white images of the following scenes:
B.D. Wong, Kurt Russell, Whip Hubley, and John Leguizamo gear up inside the stealth aircraft (ED-10)
Halle Berry and Kurt Russell plan next moves aboard the hijacked plane (ED-12R)
Kurt Russell and Steven Seagal prepare for midair transfer between planes (ED-34)
You can use the still photos as collectible display pieces by framing them for yourself or as a gift for another fan. They also make great conversation starters, enhance scrapbooks, and can be downloaded with a scanner for various fan projects.
Production Info
The pamphlet in the press kit contains behind the scenes information about how the movie was produced, descriptions of featured cast and crew members.
My favorite part of the pamphlet provides information about how this was released after the producer Joel Silver reached a milestone in producing ten movies that hit $100 million each in global box office sales. Some of the movies include Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, and Demolition Man.
Credits Sheet
The press kit also contains a credits sheet (above) that lists the film’s principal talent and crew, providing a full snapshot of the production team behind the movie’s tense and gripping action.
