Angus (1995) Memorabilia: Press Kit and Photos
A rare glimpse behind the scenes of a cult coming-of-age favorite through official stills and production notes
Before the release of Angus on September 15, 1995, New Line Cinema sent film critics this press kit that contains four 8x10 still photos and a production information pamphlet. It's a nostalgic collectible or gift for any fan of the movie.
Press kits are one of the rarer pieces of movie memorabilia, but sometimes they are available to buy. I acquired this one from an award-winning film critic based in San Diego who is now retired.
Angus Still Photos
The 8x10 still photos in the press kit feature black and white images of the following scenes.
Troy and Angus stand together as best friends (TW-37)
Angus and Troy admire Melissa Lefevre from across the room (TW-117)
Angus sweeps Melissa off her feet at the Winter Ball while Troy watches (103-13)
Angus and Troy react with shock during an unexpected moment (FD-2)
You can use the still photos as collectible display pieces by framing them for yourself or as a gift for another fan. They also make great conversation starters, enhance scrapbooks, and can be downloaded with a scanner for various fan projects.
Angus Production Info
The pamphlet in the press kit contains behind-the-scenes information about how the movie was produced, descriptions of featured cast and crew members, and movie credits.
My favorite part of the pamphlet provides background about how the actor Charlie Talbert—just a regular middle schooler at the time—was scouted by the director at a Wendy's late one night. It also includes quotes from Dawn Steel, the movie's producer who was the first woman to head a major Hollywood studio.
If you want to learn more about this, I wrote an article about Angus based on information included in the pamphlet.
Buy Angus Memorabilia
Whether you're a fan of Angus, looking to buy a gift for a fellow fan, or returning to Angus for a project, eBay often has press kits and other memorabilia listed by trusted sellers who are movie critics, filmmakers, and movie fans like me.
Before I started collecting movie memorabilia I was skeptical of eBay, but now I trust it as much as other marketplaces like Amazon. I'm sure you'll have a great experience as well. Enjoy!
